ArtIcons Pro is an intuitive application that lets you create, edit and save icons for your files. It is oriented toward all types of users, regardless of their skill level.

The interface of the application is clean and simple to navigate. Creating a new icon from scratch requires you to input some parameters, such as the size, conversion mode and colors. These values may be restored to default.

A few standard drawing tools are available in a bar on the left side of the screen, such as pencil, eraser, text, line, curve, rectangle, ellipse, brush and color fill. Plus, you may zoom in and out, and use a color palette.

Furthermore, it is possible to adjust the image transparency, enable smooth resampling mode and to lock or duplicate the image format, aside from capturing and importing images. Photo effects focus on rotation, flip, roll, drop shadow, grayscale, negative, color replacement and others.

When it comes to program preferences, you can make file associations, disable dialogs from popping up (e.g. confirm library icon deletion), as well as select the bitmap background color for the exporting, just to name a few.

ArtIcons Pro has a good response time, contains a help file and supports keyboard shortcuts. We have not encountered any problems throughout our testing; the app did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs.
